Her determination feels raw and relatable, especially as she confronts trust shattered by betrayal (who hasn’t known disappointment from someone close?) while refusing to let heartbreak define her.

That sort of interconnected storytelling is so rewarding if you’ve invested time elsewhere in their books—but it absolutely stands alone if this is your first dip into Solaria.

One thing worth noting: as much as I adore well-performed narration, details about this audiobook version are scarce—I found myself wishing for specifics about the narrator because delivery makes such a difference! Assuming solid performance quality based on previous works from these authors’ catalogues, I’d imagine they bring intensity where needed while letting quieter moments breathe.

If I have any quibble, it might be that sometimes the constant cliffhangers left me almost too tense—I craved one or two softer interludes amidst all that perilous energy. Yet even those breathless moments felt true to Darkmore itself: jagged edges everywhere you turn, danger never far away.
