Rise of the Isle of the Lost Audiobook – Descendants (de la Cruz), Book 3

There’s something magical about listening to an audiobook while curled up on the couch with a soft blanket and a steaming cup of tea. That’s exactly how I spent my evening with “Rise of the Isle of the Lost Audiobook”. From the very first chapter, I was transported back to the enchanting yet treacherous world of Auradon and the Isle of the Lost. Melissa de la Cruz has done it again, weaving a tale that is equal parts thrilling and heartwarming.

The story picks up where “Return to the Isle of the Lost” left off, with Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay facing their most dangerous challenge yet. A villain from their past resurfaces, threatening not only Auradon but also everything they’ve worked so hard to build. What I loved most about this installment is how it delves deeper into each character’s growth. Mal struggles with balancing her dark roots and her new role as a hero, Evie continues to shine as both a fashionista and a brilliant strategist, Carlos proves his bravery isn’t just for show, and Jay… well, Jay is still charmingly reckless but undeniably loyal.

Sofia Carson’s narration was nothing short of spectacular. Her ability to bring each character to life with distinct voices and emotions added layers of depth to an already captivating story. The way she captured Mal’s internal conflict or Evie’s determination made me feel like I was right there alongside them. The pacing was perfect too – neither too rushed nor too slow – keeping me hooked until the very end.

One thing that stood out to me was how this book explores themes of identity and redemption. It made me reflect on my own journey – how we all have moments where we question who we are versus who we want to be. The characters’ struggles felt real and relatable despite being set in a fantastical world.

If you loved Disney villains growing up (who didn’t?), this series is a must-listen. It takes everything you thought you knew about these iconic characters and flips it on its head in the best way possible. By the time I finished listening late into the night (yes, I couldn’t stop), I felt both satisfied by how far these characters had come yet eager for more adventures.
