As someone who loves legal thrillers, I was eager to see how Grisham would weave his magic this time – and he did not disappoint.

From the very first chapter, “The Appeal” gripped me with its intricate plot and morally complex characters. The story revolves around a small town devastated by corporate greed, where toxic waste has caused a cancer cluster that shatters lives. The courtroom drama is intense, but what truly captivated me was the behind-the-scenes manipulation of judicial elections. Carl Trudeau, the billionaire antagonist, is chillingly realistic in his quest to buy justice. His cold calculation and disregard for human life made my skin crawl, yet I couldn’t stop listening.

Michael Beck’s narration was impeccable.
