I’ve always loved a good science fiction tale, but B.V. Larson’s creation was unlike anything I’ve ever encountered. Just when you think you’ve grown accustomed to the rhythm of the story from the previous books, Storm World tosses you into a whirlwind – quite literally. Larson, in his unparalleled way, doesn’t let his protagonists catch a breath. And I felt every heartbeat, every pulse of adrenaline, as if I was there with them, fighting against the relentless storm and the looming enemy.

Then there’s Mark Boyett. Narrators can make or break an audiobook, but Boyett’s voice is the perfect vessel for this story. Every mission, every confrontation, he carries you with him, and even in the absence of a romantic subplot, you find yourself romanced by the sheer power of the narrative. The synergy between Larson’s words and Boyett’s voice gave me goosebumps more than once during my listen.

One particular scene that resonated with me was when Earth attempts diplomacy with Mogwa Prime.
