Settled into my balcony on a fresh morning, I eagerly delved into the world of Sky World with the familiar voice of Mark Boyett resonating through my headphones. The ambiance of a calm morning juxtaposed against the tumultuous narrative of an earth under attack was surreal.

B.V. Larson’s mastery in Science Fiction & Fantasy is evident in the complexity of the world he’s built. Just when I thought I knew where the series was heading, Sky World introduced an unforeseen twist. The ever-defiant McGill, whom I’ve come to admire deeply, is once again at the forefront, defending Earth and humanity with a fierceness only he can muster.

What struck me most about this audiobook was not just the external threat posed by Rigel but the internal conflict McGill and his team face. The possibility of a traitor within their midst intensifies the suspense. It’s a poignant reminder that battles aren’t always fought against external forces; sometimes, the real war is against the enemy within.

As a 30-year-old woman, it’s not always easy to find stories that can fully captivate my attention, but Sky World managed to do so effortlessly. B.V. Larson’s knack for crafting vivid, high-stakes space battles combined with the personal challenges faced by McGill made for an entrancing listen.
