The world outside was quiet, but inside, I was transported to a realm of royal intrigue and blossoming romance. Kiera Cass has done it again – crafting a story that feels both familiar and refreshingly new. This fourth installment in “The Selection” series shifts focus to Princess Eadlyn, the daughter of America and Maxon, as she navigates her own Selection process. What struck me most was how Eadlyn’s journey mirrored the struggles of modern young women: balancing duty with personal desires, grappling with societal expectations, and discovering love in unexpected places.

Brittany Pressley’s narration was nothing short of enchanting. Her ability to capture Eadlyn’s fiery independence while also conveying her vulnerability made the character feel incredibly real. The pacing was perfect – neither rushed nor dragging – and Pressley’s voice brought each suitor to life with distinct tones and personalities. There were moments when I found myself laughing out loud at Eadlyn’s sharp wit or holding my breath during tense confrontations.

What I loved most about this audiobook was how it explored themes of self-discovery and growth. Eadlyn starts off as a somewhat unlikable protagonist – proud, stubborn, and resistant to change – but by the end, her transformation felt earned and deeply satisfying. The romantic elements were sweet without being overly saccharine, and the political undertones added depth to what could have been a simple love story.

If there’s one critique I have, it’s that some parts felt predictable if you’re familiar with the series. However, Cass manages to keep things fresh by introducing new dynamics among the suitors and delving into Eadlyn’s internal conflicts.

By the time I finished listening late into the night (I couldn’t stop!), I felt a mix of satisfaction for Eadlyn’s journey and excitement for what comes next in this beloved series.
