The Burning Page audiobook – The Invisible Library Series, Book 3

On a sunny afternoon, while lounging in my favorite hammock in the backyard, I immersed myself in the captivating world of The Burning Page audiobook by Genevieve Cogman. As a fan of science fiction and fantasy novels, I was excited to delve into this third installment of The Invisible Library series.

The story follows Irene, a Librarian spy, and her assistant Kai as they embark on another thrilling adventure. This time, Irene finds herself on probation due to past mishaps involving Fae and dragons. However, trouble seems to follow her wherever she goes, and soon she and Kai are caught up in a dangerous situation they never saw coming.

Cogman’s writing kept me engaged throughout the book, with its intriguing plot and well-developed characters. I particularly enjoyed the dynamic between Irene and Kai, as they navigated their way through various worlds and faced off against their longtime nemesis Alberich.

However, I must admit that the narration by Susan Duerden left much to be desired. While her voice may be suitable for other types of novels, it didn’t quite match the tone and energy required for this science fiction fantasy. Her struggle to portray the different characters effectively took away from my overall enjoyment of the audiobook.

Despite this drawback, The Burning Page is still a worthwhile read for fans of the genre. If you’re looking for an engaging plot filled with adventure and suspense, then this audiobook is definitely worth a listen.
