I couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of Dexter trying to blend in as a suburban dad while his inner monster claws for release.

What makes this audiobook so compelling is Jeff Lindsay’s narration. His dry wit and deadpan delivery perfectly capture Dexter’s dark humor and detached perspective. There were moments when I found myself chuckling at Dexter’s observations about humanity, even as he plotted his next kill. It’s a strange feeling – rooting for a serial killer – but Lindsay makes it impossible not to be captivated by Dexter’s charm.

The story takes a thrilling turn when a new psychopath emerges in Miami, one whose methods are even more gruesome than Dexter’s. This reignites Dexter’s dark appetite, and the tension builds as he navigates between maintaining his facade and satisfying his “Dark Passenger.” The dynamic between Dexter and his sister Deborah adds another layer of intrigue. Deborah, now a detective, unknowingly pulls Dexter deeper into the case, creating a deliciously complex web of morality and deception.

By the end of the audiobook, I was left both satisfied and craving more. “Dearly Devoted Dexter” is a masterful blend of suspense, humor, and psychological depth.
